I wanted to start a discussion about the ASIS PSP (Physical Security Professional) certification and why it’s becoming increasingly important for project managers today. In modern projects, especially in construction, infrastructure, corporate security, or facilities management, physical security is not just an afterthought anymore. Having the PSP certification shows that you can integrate security planning directly into project phases, anticipate risks, and make sure projects comply with both organizational policies and regulations.
The exam itself covers three main domains:
Physical security assessment
Application, design, and integration of security systems
Implementation of security measures
One of the things I really like about this certification is that ASIS regularly updates the exam content. That means the exam isn’t just about theory; it reflects current security challenges and real-world applications, which makes it highly relevant in today’s project management roles.
