ErrorPreparing when attempting to run any virtualized app from DropBox
Permalink

Hi,

I have been crushed by this problem I'm experiencing, can't figure it out. The problem begins after I package an application and then place it into my DropBox folder. I then attempt to launch the application from inside the dashboard and it looks like it's going to run but then ERROR is displayed. The word error appears very much how I have displayed it in the previous sentence. Large print and underlined. I have used the EYE tool to see if I will be shown an error message while the app is loading but nothing appears. I packaged the app inside of the Cameyo server virtual machine, not from my computer. Not sure if that makes a difference. I'm a free user too by the way. At any rate, I appreciate any point in the right direction on this. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks for any help

Christopher

OK. I downloaded an already prepackaged version of OpenOffice from the Public Apps section of the Cameyo website. I placed that file in my DropBox apps folder and tried to run it from the Dashboard and again, ERROR. I didn't package this file this time but get the same error either way. I have experienced this error in Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Anybody seen this type of thing before? Tell me what you think might be going on.

Thanks!
Christopher

Still trying to resolve this issue myself but I just.............can't! I have no idea why no virtualized applications I build don't run from DropBox. In fact no applications run from DropBox whether I built them or not. Here is the token from my last invoke attempt. 3e6b42d6-f616-48a5-ba17-83278a630012#. Tried to run Adobe Digital Editions. Got nowhere. ERROR.

if it's trying to connect to a private cloud server (trial) that has no internet connection, it will error out because the server can't connect to dropbox.

In the documentation that describes how the Dropbox apps should work, it mentions not needing server access at all. That it could run independently. OpenOffice doesn't require an internet connection and that program generates an error as well. Nothing runs from Dropbox whether I created the virtualized application or not. Will lack of internet generate an error code? If so, what code is it? I have seen no codes of any kind so I can't tell what's going on. I have uploaded the apps to the virtual environment and they do run there without internet access. Not sure why they won't run outside of that environment in a browser.

when you play any app through the browser, you're accessing a remote server.  it's the remote server that is running the app.  the server has to download the app to run it.  if the server has no internet connection, it can't download the app from dropbox to run it. you can play dropbox apps on the public servers and private servers that have internet access but not on servers with no internet connection. the private cloud server (trial) doesn't have internet connection so apps stored on dropbox won't play on it.
