Software trial period
Permalink

Hello,

I have downloaded Cameyo but haven't used it as yet. There is one thing I would like to know.

Since the virtual app created by Cameyo bypasses the registry --if I download an app with a trial period and make a virtual app from it-- it would continue to function even after the trial period is over-- in short bypassing the software trial period protection.Am I correct in my assumption?

Regards,

Sourav

Information that is read/written to the registry with traditionally installed software accesses the Cameyo package's virtual registry.  A lot of programs would behave unpredictably if the registry--real or virtual--were completely disregarded.

Cameyo is not intended to circumvent software protections.

Thank you for your prompt reply. But your reply begets another question. You say that the protection information written into the registry even after the software is uninstalled will access Cameyo's virtual registry when the portable software's .exe file is run thus halting the software when the trial period is over. But supposing  the portable software is run on a different machine than on the one it was created and on which the original software was never installed.Would the software protection be circumvented then?

Please understand that my question is of academic interest.Software piracy is not my intention.

Regards,

Sourav
