1. Have you tested a regular installation of your software on Win8 to see if it works without error or the need to turn off DEP? 2. By "turn off software DEP," do you mean you have DEP on for all programs instead of the default essential Windows programs and services?
Unfortunately creating a non-wrapped version of the software and installing will take a great deal of effort as we have an automated build processes in place using application virtualization so that installation is unnecessary.
I have tested this wrapped in Thinapp and it does not have the issue.
By turning off DEP I mean actually going to the administrative command line and shutting it down. Then reboot for the change to take effect.
I am not just turning off notifications.
As time permits I intend to continue testing in order to determine exactly what calls are causing the issue.
I did wrap a small application that just had all of the controls from mscomctl dropped onto the form and it did not error, so I'm assuming that some call to one of these controls is causing an issue.
