Cannot import the registry from the command line
Permalink

Hello,

I'm new to Cameyo but so far I am extremely impressed!

My ultimate goal is to use ZeroInstaller to automate my build process. In order to achieve this goal I want to have a registry file that I can import into my package, my dependencies do not change very often.

To test this I have manually created my cameyo package and exported the registry settings.  I then delete the registry entries in the package.

Next I want to run a command line entry against the packages like:

<MyAppName>.cameyo.exe -exec Regedit.exe MyRegistryFile.reg

When I run the above I'm prompted to import the registry file and when I say yes I get the Cameyo message that it is accessing the package.

Then I get the error: Cannot import  MyRegistryFile.reg: Error accessing the registry.

When I look in the package there are no registry entries (as expected after the error).

I confirmed that I can import the registry via Cameyo itself.

Any help is appreciated.

Could this be an elevation problem? Can you try to run this command from an elevated cmd?

Also, can you elaborate what you mean by "I confirmed that I can import the registry via Cameyo itself." ?

Hello and thank you for the resonse.

I am building the package on an xp machine so as far as I understand it there is no elevated command promt.

As for importing it through Cameyo, I am oening the Cameyo.exe and using that to open and edit my new package.  From here I can import the registry file without issue.
