I am quite new to Cameyo and so yet to learn about a couple of things. I have been using portableapps, which has many apps I can ruin anywhere and I am quite satisfied with it.
Once I saw Cameyo, though, which enables one to package one's own apps, I thought it could help me package some badly needed programs like Nero Platinum 11, which has many programs within it.
I tried doing so however, by first uninstalling my existing copy, then re-installed it with Cameyo on as instructed. At the end, I get a huge file called "nero.prerequisites.msi Nero Recode Nero Rescu.cameyo", over 3GB, but which I expected since Nero 11 is quite big in "Cameo apps", which however does not work.
I tried packaging on another pc but it took way too long, hours, after which after very long got me a round 160MB or so file, which does not run & shows errors. The packaging process run without any errors & told me it was finished, only it took TOO long.
So my question is, can one package Nero-like programs at all, or it is too big & has too many programs? Would it do if I only installed the Video creating program, which is one of the many in the Nero 11 Platinum package?
What do I need to know about Cameyo in order not to have false expectations?
Secondly, in case I want to carry a file on my USB stick so I can use it on ANY computer like the portableapps programs, apart from copying & pasting it in a folder on it, what more do I have to do/take note of?
i packaged nero 8 perfectly in one single file, and it worked too. you need to make sure you have a clean system, clean of any nero stuff. I ghost (imaging) my system alot cos after installing/uninstalling so much rubbish/bloatwares (test prog. demos/trials etc.) that are out there i need to ghost to get the system back to normal.
my ghost is set with all m/b drivers only. so, i can try and capture an installation time and again, then i use the editor built into cameyo to reduce the size of the single file... basically just delete files that i think are not needed and then save as into another name/number and try running the app. if the newer nero is using machine fingerprint (hardware id) then obviously it cant be captured... nero is becoming a big bloat anyway, so sticking to 8 for now - works on my win7 home premium!
