I am fuzzy on licensing requirements for Windows

I have tried to read a lot of the articles here and looked through the forum..  But I am unclear if I need to buy Windows licenses for Cameyo Windows apps I host on my in-house server(s).

We sell management software written in Windows - VB6 & VB.Net.  Many of our clients would like to have a solution "in the cloud" so they do not have to manage any hardware or networks or SQL Server servers locally.

Cameyo seems like it might be a good way to offer this to select clients while we work on a truly web-based solution.

What I am confused about, however, is Windows licensing.  Will each user connecting to my Cameyo app on my Windows server need to be licensed for Windows?

Hi @Jerry_J,

Great question! We work with clients just like you to deliver legacy Windows desktop apps to their customers via the cloud. Our solution leverages Microsoft's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). To comply with Microsoft's licensing requirement, each known user of your application accessed on a Cameyo server must have an Remote Desktop Services Client Access License (RDS CAL). If you are using a licensed application, i.e., Microsoft Office, you still have to purchase the software or pay the subscription fee to access the application.

So what does this mean for you?

If you want us to host everything using our Cameyo Cloud service, list price is $20 per user per month and includes all RDS, server and usage fees.

If you want to self host, you can install a Cameyo server in your environment. List price is $12 per user per month, but you are responsible for RDS, server and additional usage fees.

Discounts may be available depending on your situation. If you have not already, I encourage you to sign up for a free trial on the website (www.cameyo.com) or contact sales@cameyo.com.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.
