Unable to create new blank package and save executables to it
Permalink

I have an application that has no installer. I am attempting to create a package from scratch (empty). It is a node-webkit executable package. When i create a blank package and add the file and hit the save button i get a "The Path is not of a legal form" error. I have tried running as admin and adding a folder and then adding the file to that. I am using the latest version as of 10/20/15, a 3.01x version.

I have tried to create a package the same way but with a much smaller standalone exe ipscan221.exe from angryziber.com. Its a very small ip scanner. it throws the same errors.

I ran several searches to see if there are any tips but havent found anything yet.

any help is appreciated.

I got past the previous error by importing the folder that includes the executable instead of just adding the file.

Doing this i got the second executable (ipscan221.exe) to work without trouble. The node-webkit executable though will package but doesnt seem to work and doesnt throw errors.

The application i am trying to package is: healthit.gov/sites/default/files/SRATool_desktop_v1.4.exe.

Thx

The SRA tool will execute but shows no display. It sits in the task manager stalled.

Using windows 10, i got it to execute but Windows throws an error saying the application is not built for this operating system. The application runs normally just fine. I am moving away from trying to use cameyo for this app.

thanks

You could use Inno Setup to make an installation file. It's free! I could successfully create Cameyo packages for all my applications using setup files from Inno Setup.

Regards, Rolf
