Using Windows 10, have downloaded and installed Freemake Video Downloader which works perfectly fine as an installed app.. capturing it with cameyo though, gives an app which doesn't run. It just starts and stops.. no error messages.
You captured an installation on your host system and then uninstalled the application ... do I have that right?
Please upload your package to a file-hosting site and provide the download url so we can take a look. WeTransfer doesn't require registration nor does it force tiered download speeds.
the package created by cameyo is just under 1 gigabyte.. We live out on the land where internet connection is both very slow (satelite hookup) and very expensive.. I tried to upload the file as you suggest, but after uploading 250mbs (which I might add took over 6 and a half hours!), my browser crashed. I am reluctant to repeat this experiment as chances are it will repeat itself and just end up wasting precious bandwidth.
Perhaps this brings an end to the support you offer, in which case I'll just bow out gracefully and thank you for the time and effort you offered thus far.
no, there was no intentional including of anything else, and no editing of the package either.. I simply started Cameyo, did a preinstillation capture, installed freemake video downloader, then captured the package which resulted in a 972,043 kb package..
just fyi i also tried to capture dragon professional individual (v14) on the same w10 laptop more recently.. the software installation package was 3.5 gigabytes which was the same size as the cameyo end product, but once more the cameyo version does not run .. i should probably create an additional thread for that I guess..
If we reach a point where I can no longer help, I shall let you know; I won't just disappear.
One problem with capturing on a system that has other software installed is background processes will be captured, too. Not only will that unnecessarily increase the size of the package, it can sometimes interfere with the app's performance itself. A clean virtual machine is recommended for building packages.
Please try this package and let me know the results.
Regarding Dragon, do you have an url where a trial can be downloaded? If you have a private url, you can send it to me by PM.
I just downloaded from the link you provided, and it worked perfectly! thank you so much for that!
I am unfamiliar with virtual machines but doing some research.. do you recommend virtualbox? If I install virtualbox, will i need an installation disk for windows, or can it just somehow grab the w10 on the laptop and duplicate it as a vm? sorry, this is all new stuff for me..
Glad the package worked for you. You probably noticed its rather small size; it is no idle saying that a clean VM is best practice.
VirtualBox is a satisfactory free option. Indeed, it is what I use. Yes, you will need to install an Operating System on each virtual machine you create. You wouldn't want it to grab your host system, because then you wouldn't have a clean VM; you would have a virtual machine with all of the software that is installed on your current system. Good luck!
