Saving a Cameyo virtual capture to a different drive
Permalink

I have a consistent and repeatable problem with saving a Cameyo virtual file.  My computer is Win 7x, and my C: hard drive is an SSD with limited space and limited write cycles.  I keep Cameyo on E: and I want to save all virtual captures to E:\Cameyo Apps, but Cameyo saves the captures to C:\Users\Cameyo Apps in My Documents instead.  Is there a way I can tell Cameyo to put everything on E: and nothing on C:?  Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

IMHO the easy way is to make a NTFS link in "C:\Users\Cameyo Apps" pointing to "E:\Cameyo Apps".

No space used in drive C: as all your virtual captures will be stored on E:.

Hello Jim-3,

First, it is highly recommended to build packages in a clean virtual machine instead of a production environment.

To answer your question: you can change the default output directory by editing Packager.xml.  The default location is %AppData%\Roaming\VOS\Cameyo\PROG\%Program Files%\Cameyo.  Change OutputDir name="%Personal%\Cameyo apps" to your preference, e.g. OutputDir name="E:\Cameyo apps"

If you are running your packages from your computer's hard drive, you may want to edit each package's Data storage from default to your E:, e.g. Under the executable's directory, E:\VOS\%AppID%, etc.

Thanks for the helpful idea, but I have no idea how to creat a NTFS link pointing to a different drive location.

Thanks for the quick reply., but I cannot find a "Packager.XML' to edit, and I do not know how to edit an XML file.  I am on a trip so this laptop is all I have to work with for now, but it is cleaner than many environments that I have worked with before.

I created the folder E:\Cameyo\EXE Program, and that is where Cameyo 2-5-1153.exe is located.  Cameyo then created the sub folder Cameyo 2-5-1153.data.  In that sub folder, there is no "Packager.XML"  A screenshot of the Cameyo file structure is attached.  Any suggestions would be welcome.  BTW, adding a user selectable option for where to save captures would be a helpful addition to a new update.  Thanks!  Jim

It seems that your E: is a flash drive.  The location of Packager.xml should be \Cameyo 2-5-1153.data\PROG\%Program Files%\Cameyo.  You can edit this xml file with Notepad.

If you are running your packages from a flash drive, you do not need to edit Data storage.  The sandboxes will deploy to the flash drive by default.

Isaca, Thanks for the link.  It is a little advanced for me, but it offers lots of opportunity to learn new skills.

Mule, Many thanks for the helpful guidance, and the clear instructions.  Your direction was spot on, and my files are now saved to my E: flash drive.  Happy New Year!  Jim
