Editing a package
Permalink

I just started using Cameyo. I noticed I could open the package using 7zip. I noticed the last file, Packager.log is quite large and contains information that does not seem necessary to be available when running the package, e.g. the line

1> [872] (07-13 20:07:36 1401335ms): FilesDiff_PostScan: LastWriteTime optim: skipping files in dir C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\FreePDF

seems unnessessary, as the application FreePDF is not used. I could open Packager.log in an editor and delete this line. And i could save the edited file. But then 7zip notices the file has been changed and asks me if I want to change the package. On "yes" I get an error message "not implemented".

The official Package Editor does not show Packager.log at all.

How can I change or delete the Packager.log file?

Hi,

The log is a mandatory part of the package, as it allows diagnosing and troubleshooting packaging issues.
However, your point's been taken into consideration, and the line "skipping files in dir" will no longer be recorded in future versions.

I would have assumed that any log files that would be created would not be placed in the final package :/ as that information would not be used by the end user. Instead, it could be an option explicitly enabled (an option to save the log next to the package destination perhaps).
As a matter of course I usually manually prune junk and temp files like this, and (as in the OP) I did not see this log file as well, which does make for some concern because they also did not mention the actual size of the file, and I don't really want to waste space and bandwidth downloading these things that don't matter, ;)
