Firefox no longer works

Hi,

A few months ago I was using Firefox just fine.  Today I tried it and it says "Pro Users Only  Sorry, this package can only be played by licensed users."  Why has this suddenly changed?  Is there a way around this?  I tried another browser and it did the same thing.

Thanks

Because there were some abuses from free accounts, we implemented the Pro Users requirement.  If you would like to send your use case in a PM, I can forward it on for review.  This does not guarantee an exception will be made, but it will be considered.

Understood

Thanks, I'll do that

But it may also be generally useful for others who see this post to understand the answers to a few related questions I also have:

- What does a "pro user" account even mean?  Does this mean an account that has a fee attached to it? (not free?)

- Is this all applications now, or just the browsers?

- I was thinking of trying that thing where you can turn the tool into a stand-alone download for your computer, but so far have just been trying it online.  If I do that download method, does it still go out to your site to check for license method, or just during the process of creating the image in the first place?

- The reason I hadn't tried the download image method yet is that frankly I was a little uncertain whether this added stuff to my machine's registry and startups and whatnot.  I rarely install new software since so much of it causes so many problems and takes me many hours to untwine/fix.  While I'm asking questions, it seems a good time to ask that question: is the image that is created a true stand-alone binary, or is there a bunch of infrastructure software installed to run it?  Does that infrastructure software go out to your site when it runs?  Does it add start-up's/services/etc?  If not, then I'd be interested in trying the stand-alone binary method (although I'd still also like the web one to be available so I can try new versions of Firefox and stuff before installing them).

Thanks

Also, I'm not sure I did the PM correctly.  Please let me know if you do not get it so I can try again if necessary - thanks

For some reason, I had to create another account before I could find a way to attempt to send it (I guess the Cameyo and forum accounts are separate - ?)

Lastly, I can no longer log into the new forum account I created so please let me know here on this thread if there are any further questions I need to answer.

I'm not sure what is wrong with the forum account.  I created it, attempted to (and hopefully did) send a PM to you, and then logged out.  When I tried to log back it, it tells me "Name/Password incorrect. Please try again." even though I know it is not wrong.  When I do a "Account information retrieval" I never get an email.  So I may not be able to get a response to my PM from there.

PM received, thanks ... and forwarded on for consideration.

Yes, there is a monthly cost for Cameyo Pro.  Most apps in the Library work under Cameyo Free.

When you mention standalone download, are you referring to the complete package, e.g. Firefox package or the AppPlayer for the package, e.g. Firefox AppPlayer?  The former runs locally and does not require Cameyo Pro.  The AppPlayer uses RemoteApp on our Play server, and since this particular app requires a Pro account, the AppPlayer will return an error if run without being logged in to Cameyo Pro.

Thank you, I really appreciate your help

You asked what I was referring to with my question about the stand-alone download (I should have probably said "stand-alone binary download" or "exe" or something).  Based on your answer, I think I was referring to what you are calling the "Firefox package" on that particular topic, although, again, I'm still also interested in the online web-page-based one that I think you are calling the "Firefox AppPlayer" (and so my PM request definitely still applies).

I did have a few related questions:

- A few days ago I created a forum account (separate from the standard Cameyo account), but am having problems with it.  Who would I contact?  I used the tool to send "account information" to my email address, but I never receive it (yes, checked spam).  It says if you don't get that email, to contact the forum administrator.  But I couldn't figure out where to do that, in other words: how do I contact the forum administrator?

- So the Firefox package seems to be the stand-alone binary download (which I downloaded from the link you provided, thanks).  What is the exe that was downloaded: an installer, or the actual stand-alone application exe itself?  Does it add registry entries, startup processes/services, or otherwise change anything on the configuration of my machine?  Or is it totally isolated?  Further, does it contact your site when it is run?  Meaning, require an internet connection just to start it? (above and beyond the fact that it is an internet browser, of course)  (What I think I've understood from what I've read and hoping is that it is totally self-contained and isolated.)

- Can I also download packages with other versions of Firefox, or just the one version?  Multiple versions would be great so I can try out various ones with the best interface vs. new enough to support various web site requirements.

Thanks again for your help

The package and AppPlayer each differ from Playing through a browser.  The package is completely local and doesn't use our servers at all once it's downloaded to your machine.  AppPlayer, which is also an executable, runs locally and connects to our server with RemoteApp.  Playing through a browser is a third option, which obviously connects to our server.

Packages extract files as needed to a repository.  The default location is %AppData%\VOS.  Some packages write to the registry under HKCU\SOFTWARE\VOS.  These files and registry writes can be deleted by running the package with -Remove parameter.

There is only one version of Firefox in the Library, but you can build different versions yourself on a clean virtual machine, or you can go here and have Online Packager do it for you.  Although you can have multiple versions of Firefox packages on your system, Firefox itself doesn't permit different versions to run simultaneously.

As for the other thing, it would be expedient to create another forum account and PM me so that I can reply.  Maybe a username that doesn't have anonymous or something equally challenging in it for the new forum account. wink
