Adobe Acrobat X Pro Will Not Open On USB Flash Drive
Permalink

Hi,

I installed Abode Acrobat X Pro on the computer, and created a virtual app of it.

Virtual Abode Acrobat X works great on the host computer( where it was created).

When I moved the virtual Adobe Acrobat to my usb flash drive, it will not open.

I get a fatal error  "ACROBAT FAILED TO LOAD ITS CORE DLL".

(I created a virtual app twice, and still I get the same error).

Any suggestions what the solution might be?

Thank You

Hello jmc,

1. Are you running the package on the flash drive connected to the same computer where the package worked when run from the computer's hard drive, or is this another computer altogether?

2. Was the package built on a clean virtual machine, or was it created on the same system that ran the virtualized version successfully from its hard disk?

3. What OS and platform did you use to create the package, e.g. Win7 SP1 x64?

4. On what OS and platform are you testing the package, e.g. Win8.1 x64?

I installed and packaged Adobe Acrobat on the following host computer:

Windows 7 Pro , SP1 , 32bit , i7-3770 cpu@3.40 Ghz

  • The packaged adobe acrobat runs OK from the host computer's C/my documents location.
  • I copied the packaged adobe acrobat to my flash drive.
  • It will not run from the flash drive on the same host computer where it was packaged. I get an error "Acrobat failed to load it's core dll".
  • I tried to run it on two other computers(win7, win8) from the flash drive , and still it will not run.
  • It will not run with -remove and -safemode parameters either.
  • It will only run when it's physically sitting on the computers desktop/my documents location.

---------------

I also tried this:

  • I downloaded Cameyo's already packaged Adobe Reader XI from cameyo's apps own download site.
  • Adobe reader XI will not run from a flash drive. It will only run from a computers desktop location.

---------------

Came across two articles from Adobe:

One article says that Adobe Acrobat / Adobe Reader run in "PROTECTIVE MODE" for security reasons.

https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-failed-load-core-dll.html

The article in the above link provides 5 solutions to the error "acrobat failed to load it's core dll".

I tried solution #2 , but it did not work.

Solution #4 says "Make sure that Adobe Acrobat or Abobe Reader are installed to the local system drive. Installing on a Mapped Drive is not a supported configuration".

Could this be the problem ?

The Packaged adobe acrobat thinks that the flash drive is a mapped drive and it will not run from a flash drive ???

(I do not have any mapped drives)

Thank You
