Error 2 or Error 14001
Permalink

Hi,

I setup a new, fresh XP VM.

Ran Cameyo's Capture, installed by appliation. Finished Cameyo's capture and successfully created by virtualised app.

The virtualised app ran successfullly.

Then, I used the 'Edit Package' program to remove a couple of unnecessary files (I am sure they are unnecessary) and saved the app AS A NEW NAME.

Now, when I try to run it, it just shows an 'ERROR' text box that says:

'Could not execute 'C:\program files\<my folder and application name>' (Error = 2)'

or the same message, but Error=14001.

I get the same error even if I try run the original virtualised application.

The only way I have found to fix it, is to restore the virtual machine back to an earlier state.

Any suggestions, please!

EDIT: I think it might be an issue with the setup of the VM that I'm using, as I successfully edited the Cameyo file on a different computer, and it works without error... I'm still interested in any suggestions as to what might be causing the problem. Note that on the PC that caused the problem, it only runs the 'simple' version of the editor, because the required version of dotNET is not installed.

Supplemental question: Does Cameyo use any local files anywhere when it is running a virtualised application? ie is there anything I could delete/reset when this happens, rather than having to restore the VM?     EDIT - I also at least partially answered this for myself (I RTFMed !! and found out about the -remove command line option), but I'm still interested in anything anyone might have to say about this.

Many Thanks!

Chris.

Hello Chris,

If you run -Remove and then launch the original package, i.e. not the one that had files deleted, close it, and launch it again, do you receive the Could not execute error?

Hi,

Yes, If I did the -remove thing, then it seemed to work ok again (until I try to edit it again with the 'basic' editor.

Like I hope my edited post said, it is not really a problem any more, I just use the full version of the editor and all is fine.

I am curious as to what the error is though, if you have any thoughts on it...

Chris
