Patching Python
Permalink

pip is the packaging software for python modules.  I have tried to patch the python virtual app with "pip install <package-name>".  The pip install performs correctly and the new functionality is available within python.  However, after the patched app is saved (repackaged) and run the entire python directory is wiped clean except for just that new pip package that was installed.

Am I doing something wrong?  Is there something about patching files in an existing directory that I am not getting?  Does cameyo consider only what was added to a directory and not what was already there?  If so, that sounds like a bug, or at least a need for a command line option to allow for additive patching that assumes modification rather than replacement (in the true sense of the word patch).  Thanks in advance for any advice.

UPDATE: ( I tried editing the original several times, but it wouldn't show up... sorry about the self-reply)

This problem happens with both -Patch and -Repackage.  The files are listed in the package editor for Python.cameyo.new.exe with a red X beside them as if they were purposely removed.  I have also tried to switch the C:\Python27 directory from "strictly isolated" to "isolated", but the result is the same.  The changes work with the old package (where the application is patched, but does not transfer to the new package with -Patch or -Repackage.  This is true even for the act of installing pip by running "c:\python27\python.exe get-pip.py".  I have repeated the result on two separate machines with and without running initially as administrator.

Any help would be appreciated.  Can others replicate this problem?  Am I missing something obvious?  If anyone needs more information, please let me know.  Versions are: Python.cameyo.exe 2.7.7150 and Cameyo 2.6.1209.

Hi Dhj,

Please check your Messages.  I sent you a PM regarding -Patch and -Repackage.

Thanks.
