Trying to get an older app to run. Getting "Deploy Error"...

I have an older (probably five years old) licensed version of Maximizer CRM (version 7.0)...just used to it, meets my needs, and don't see any point in spending the $299.00 to upgrade. I would like to convert it to a portable app, but so far my attempts have been unsuccessful.

I followed your step by step guide. If I run it on a computer that the program is already installed on, it seems to run just fine, but if I try to run it on a copmputer the program is not installed on, it gives me a "Deploy Error" message. More specifically - "Cannot deploy application. Please make sure it is not currently in use (0x400:Launcher.exe)". If I click retry, I get a second one that includes (0x8:Engine). If I click retry again, I get the following message "APIRET_PE_RESOURCE_ERROR".

The program typically requires that several Pervasive Database Engine files load before the program itself starts, and I'm wondering if that is the problem(???)...

This is a personal endeavor. I am not a developer by any stretch, so I'm hoping you can still help me.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,
Most likely it is because not all the files are included in the package.
I am not sure if your application is a very big one or not.
If it is only a small application, you may try the Online Package. It works fine if your application is small.
However, if your application is a great one, first you should try the ghost capture. If you are working in 64-bit computer or the ghost capture failed, you package it by the traditional method.
But first, scan your computer to ensure that there is no file left in the system. You may use your search tool in your computer, or using Wise JetSearch.
Then press Windows Key+R. Run regedit. Search for registry key. Indeed you enter the name of your application.
Finally delete all the files searched. Package it by traditional method again. I hope you will success. Good luck.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your quick response. The first thing I was going to try was the Online Package, but I saw in the documentation that it won't work with programs that require input for installation completion. Since this program does require the input of some information, including a serial number, regardless of the size, I will have to go with option two...

So just to make sure that I am understanding what you told me here, I need to:
1) make certain that the program is not only uninstalled, but all residual files need to be sought-out and removed.
2) all applicable registry keys must be removed.
3) attempt to package the program again by traditional methods.

If the process fails again, I should then try again by using the "Ghost Capture" option, which is accessible as a command line command(???), which would use one of the following commands:

Examples:
- Cameyo.exe -GhostCapture C:\SomeDir\Setup.msi
- Cameyo.exe -GhostCapture C:\SomeDir\Installer.exe
- Cameyo.exe -GhostCapture C:\SomeDir\Installer.exe Parameters

I'm not sure where to input the command line commands, but I'll go through the manual to figure it out.

I'm assuming that I want to create it as a .exe file (second example), but if that is incorrect, I would greatly appreciate some direction...

When this program was new, it probably would have been considered pretty big, but by today's standards, probably not so much...

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards,
Norm
