How to Enter Command Line Options in Online Packager
Permalink

Hi,

I just submitted two programs for packaging to the Online packager but was unable to enter the command line options for silent installation.  There were two choices for the online packager: a URL for the installation package online and a button to browse my local hard drive for an installation file.  I browsed to the file on my HD and the location was entered into the box.  But when I tried to type the command line option for silent install I was unable to add any text to the box.  How do I add the command line option?

Thanks!!

RZ

Hello Red Zinger,

The Online Packager finds most silent switches automatically.  You would be asked for the parameter only if Online Packager is unable to detect it on its own, and that would be done via the email address with which you registered.

Hi Mule,

Thanks!  So yesterday I submitted two programs, UniPDF, a freeware program that converts PDFs to Word docs, and the new Opera 12.12.  In both cases after I clicked Submit, the icon showing the online packager was busy working showed up for a short while and then disappeared.  And then nothing.  In past use of the online packager I got a link to download the package.  Now, both times, nothing.  The packager didn't respond with a link, I didn't get an e-mail, and the packages weren't deposited in my cloud space.  How do I obtain the two packages?

Thanks again,

RZ

Hi Red Zinger,

Please try uploading the two programs again.  There was an issue with Online Packager yesterday, which has since been fixed.  Thank you for your report.

Incidentally, I was in error when I said that you would receive an email to ask for the silent switch if Online Packager was unable to detect it: the request for the silent parameter comes on the same page through which you upload your installer file.  Again, Online Packager does find most silent switches on its own.

Hi Mule,

Thanks.  This time it worked and gave me a link to download.

Update
---------

This is a old post but I'd like to mention a tool for anyone with the issue of switches.

Universal silent switch finder 1.5 will tell you in most applications what the parameters for your program is required to install quietly and without the extra added junk such as toolbars in some cases.

Thank you for the program mention, this will help me out a lot.
